More about Jessica
The only event designed by in-house SEOs for in-house SEOs
The In-house SEO Exchange is one full day that is 100% dedicated to in-house SEO and 100% of the speakers and attendees are in-house SEOs. This means that the types of challenges you face and the types of questions that you have can be discussed openly with people in the room. Attendees will build relationships and share solutions that you would normally only hear behind closed doors. It’s unlike any event you have ever attended!
The Only Event Addressing Enterprise-level SEO Challenges
Jessica Bowman, SEO expert and in-house advocate, presents her exclusive, closed-door workshop specifically for non-agency SEO’s. Get insider tips and tactics from some of the best in SEO within an intimate, "fire-side chat" atmosphere. Past speakers have included top SEO’s from Disney, eBay, AT&T, Match.com, and many more. Workshop curriculum and topics are attendee driven, so no subject is off limits.
Walk Away With Actionable Solutions On How To:
Address Enterprise-Level Technical Issues: Learn from a room full of others in e-commerce, publishing, lead-gen, and B2B, how they deal with unique technical issues in their applications. For example, the use of canonical tags, mitigating the negative effects of Panda updates, integrating social media and UGC, improvements in search bots’ capabilities, etc.
Deliver Powerful Reporting for Stakeholders: Find out the who, what, when, how other in-housers are reporting SEO metrics and KPIs to help demonstrate the value of SEO or build the business case for bigger SEO budgets.
Manage SEO across the Organization: Learn from top brands, the strategies they use for making SEO a bigger priority, distributing the workload to other positions, and integrating SEO into the workflow more seamlessly.
Trouble-Shoot SEO Strategies: Whether the focus for 2012 is doing a better job of local SEO on a national level, going through a major site-redesign, measuring the impact of link building campaigns, or expanding your online presence into foreign markets – someone at the In-house SEO Exchange will have been there before.
Get More from Your SEO Budget: Hear first-hand the experiences other enterprise-level SEOs have in getting the most value out of their SEO budget – discuss frankly the must-have tools (and those that can be skipped), what gets outsourced (and recommended vendors), and even personal experiences with *gasp* paid links!
Get More Mileage from your Work Week: Learn how to be a more efficient in-house SEO, leverage other roles in the organization and what other in-house SEOs are doing to shave time off their tasks.
And Much More: The In-house SEO Exchange and brainstorming is dynamic by nature. Attendees help set the agenda to ensure your most pressing SEO questions are addressed.
Duane Forrester | Bing
Duane is basically the Matt Cutts of Bing. He has a soft spot for in-house SEOs, because he was one, and I know Duane from his old days pre-Bing. He is extremely helpful and will answer any question you ask of him. I like that his answers usually make good quotes to give to the IT department when they want to do something that is inconsistent with SEO. Duane often comes to speak at the Exchange and usually makes himself available for a bit after his session for 1:1 questions if you have something very focused.
Ruth Burr | SEOMoz
Ruth, Lead SEO at SEOMoz, is an SEO and data-driven marketer living in Seattle. At SEOMoz, she builds and executes SEO strategy, as well as providing SEO subject-matter expertise internally and in the SEOmoz blog and community. Ruth has been working in in-house and agency-side SEO and PPC since 2006. She’s a firm believer in user education and in using data and testing to make better marketing decisions. Her passions include strong technical SEO, content planning and creation, SEO evangelism, karaoke and grilled cheese sandwiches. Prior to SEOmoz Ruth was the Senior Manager of Search Marketing at GameHouse.com, where she ran their paid and organic search marketing channel.
Eric Werner | The Home Depot
Eric Werner (Search Marketing Manager | The Home Depot) has left a trail of successful Search Marketing engagements in his wake while assisting organizations to become more aware of how the web can work. Currently managing SEO Content Marketing and Social Local Mobile for The Home Depot, Eric has brought his substantial agency and in-house experience to bear on the challenge of driving SEO revenue and establishing a sustainable competitive advantage.
Jamie Cottle | Nordstrom
Jamie Cottle (Nordstrom) started her career in SEO in 2007 as an SEO Editor and eventually became the SEO Product Manager at Intelius.com, a Bellevue startup company focused on aggregating data around people. Jamie currently in-house as the SEO Project Manager for Nordstrom.com, where she enjoys her time coordinating with various divisions, working on several interesting SEO projects from start to completion, and engaging with other fashion enthusiast.
Kevin Madden | Ford Motor Company
Kevin Madden (VP, Director of Search – Ford Motor Company) started SEO 10 years ago at an indie record store in Chicago, when he realized that there was more traffic than what walked through the door. Since, he has matriculated from local and B2B enterprises to some of the largest and most recognizable brands in the world. For the last five years he has been responsible for Ford’s SEO strategy.
With Ford, Kevin has worked within the largest dedicated web-analytics group in the world to manage global, local, and brand SEO, all while stubbornly asking “what did we learn from this?”
What Attendees are Saying:
What Makes this Event Especially Valuable?
“In-house SEOs will benefit from the safe haven of this event so that we can share openly, get input from people who have been through their challenges and get several solutions from a room full of people who understand the unique challenges of in-house SEO.”
“The small group atmosphere lets you tap into the collective intelligence of talented search marketing experts from across the internet. Moreover, by meeting and sharing with these individuals, you have the opportunity to establish friendships and grow your network of resources – a HUGE plus for future conferences.”
- Attendee from SMX Advanced Seattle 2010
Why Can’t Other Conferences Match the Value for In-house SEOs?
“The needs of search marketers doing SEO in-house are broader than the topics covered at most conferences. It’s not just about basic tactics: you also have to deal with organizational, political and process-related challenges. Insights into how to get past these hurdles often come from peers at other companies who either are or have been going through similar challenges. Having a day that is dedicated to enabling these conversations is priceless.”
- Olivier Lemaignen, Group Manager, Global Search Marketing – Intuit
“The opportunity to just sit and bounce ideas off others in a semi-guided and themed way was unique and clearly the best bit…pub meets never have that kind of focus, and those kind of conversations rarely flourish in a standard conference situation. Understanding and agreeing that what was said in the room stayed in the room allowed for a much free-er discussion and I think was really valuable for everyone.”
- Attendee from SMX Advanced, Seattle 2011
Any Final Thoughts?
“I came away with really good knowledge that will help me put together our long term plan.”
- Attendee from SMX East, New York 2011
“The course was incredible and I can’t thank you enough!! If i could dream up the perfect SEO course to attend every year this would be it!”
- Brian Ledis, Product Developer, Thompson Reuters
