Richard serves as Twitter’s vice president of online sales, responsible for helping grow Twitter’s advertising business, as well as new channel growth around Twitter’s self-service advertising platform for small- and medium-size businesses. Prior to Twitter, Richard served as vice president of Global Online Media Sales at Google, where he was responsible for sales and operations in Google’s online sales channel with respect to advertising solutions “beyond search.” These areas included the Google Display Network, YouTube, mobile, affiliate marketing and TV Ads.
Prior to joining Google in 2007, Richard held senior roles with a number of venture-backed technology startups, including Tellme Networks (now a subsidiary of Microsoft), supply-chain software company Velant, and Internet software and services company Zaplet. Richard spent much of his early career as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company, where he helped clients solve their most critical business problems.
Richard holds an MBA from the Stanford GSB and graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Duke University. He is @ralfonsi on Twitter.
