As the CEO of next generation creative agency 4WT Media, John Trefry works with top brands to develop and produce online video. His expertise in the online video space comes from years of experience producing thousands of videos generating millions of views. The explosive growth of John’s company, 4WT Media, is evidenced from campaigns with talent like Matt Damon for companies like YouTube, Fullscreen and many others.
John’s has formal training as a creative from the University of Colorado at Boulder where graduated with a degree in film studies & business. His evolution continued in Sydney, Australia where he started production company, 4word Thought Entertainment, whose body of work included music videos for the popular band The Sunpilots.
Upon moving to LA, John became heavily involved in the startup community. Leading a production team at online content company Mahalo, John lead the company to a syndication deal with Meredith Publishing to license hundreds of cooking videos produced in conjunction with recipe.com.
John next went on to create a video department at Docstoc, an online business solutions company with over 30M registered users. John’s achievements included building a robust library of over 1500 short form business videos and developing 32 iOS apps delivering video to help entrepreneurs.
In May of 2012, John left Docstoc to start 4WT Media, a creative agency specializing in creating high impact video content and delivering it to the right audience. 4WT works with some of the world’s most exciting brands including Google, AT&T, Microsoft, Fullscreen and many others.
John has extensive public speaking experience and has moderated or participated in dozens of panels. He was profiled in Built in LA as a rising star in the digital media community and has hosted presentations for UCLA’s Anderson School of Business discussing online video. John is comfortable appearing on camera and was interviewed at SXSW for TechZulu and featured as guest on CBS Radio’s Business Rockstars.
