Sr. Director - Search at Yahoo
As sr. director for Yahoo! Search, Cris Pierry is responsible for the development all of Yahoo!’s multimedia search products as well as a host of international Web search properties. Cris has over 17 years of technical development, computer engineering, and leadership experience at companies like Microsoft, Action Engine, and Yahoo!.
In previous roles, Cris has led teams to create cutting edge products at both large and small companies. Prior to joining Yahoo!, Cris was the Chief Product Officer for i-mate, where he was responsible for creating and developing i-mate’s software division. Before i-mate, Cris led the engineering department of MusicNet as the Vice President of Product Development. He founded Wilgrid Software to provide digital music on handheld devices, and served as the CEO before joining MusicNet.
Prior to MusicNet, Cris co-founded Action Engine Corporation, focusing on the design of mobile web services platforms for wireless carriers to enable rapid and efficient deployment of advanced data services for operators in Europe, Asia, Australia, and America.
Before Action Engine Corporation, Cris served as the director of Windows Media team at Microsoft, where he spearheaded the development of the original Windows Media Technology and managed Microsoft’s groundbreaking Windows 95 product. Under Cris’ leadership, the team created the Internet Explorer Radio Bar, bringing Internet radio within easy reach of all Internet users.
Cris holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, Massachusetts.
