Must-Attend Keynote @ SMX West: An Insider’s Guide To Friending Facebook

January 30, 2013 by Chris Sherman

Unless they’ve been living in a cave, all marketers recognize the value and potential return from engaging with Facebook users. With its vast following of more than a billion people, its multi-faceted and highly targeted advertising options, and the recent introduction of its Graph Search feature, Facebook is a must-do, must-leverage, must-succeed channel for any serious online marketer.

But as master strategist Winston Churchill once quipped, Facebook can seem like “an enigma, wrapped in a riddle, surrounded by mystery.” To be sure, garnering “likes” is huge for supercharging organic SEO efforts. Facebook also offers sublime options for micro-targeting advertising campaigns to potential customers with specific demographics in specific locations with specific tastes and preferences.

But Facebook is also constantly experimenting, often rolling out variations to its privacy policy, who gets to see what, and other attempts to “connect” its users with “relevant” information, often changing direction with little or no warning, sometimes derailing the efforts of even the best-informed practitioners.

So what’s a marketer to do?

During the keynote conversation at SMX West, you’ll get some great insights from Grady Burnett, Vice President of Global Marketing Solutions for Facebook, who will engage in a candid exchange with Search Engine Land founding editor Danny Sullivan, about topics ranging from the recently launched Facebook Exchange to the even more recently announced Facebook Graph Search beta.
