Live @ SMX East: The Coming “Entity Search” Revolution
September 27, 2013 by Chris Sherman
Yesterday, at Google’s 15th birthday celebration Google revealed its new “Hummingbird” search algorithm. Many observers believe that this may be the most significant change that Google has made in years—and it’s a change no serious search marketer can afford to ignore or overlook.
What is Hummingbird? In short, it’s Google’s new approach to move beyond keywords and understand “entities,” or what real-world things actually are or do, rather than relying on the inexact and often ambiguous words that describe them. Hummingbird should better focus on the meaning behind words. The goal is that pages matching the meaning of a query will rank, rather than pages matching just a few words.
Want to know more about this entity search revolution, and its implications for virtually all aspects of the search marketing efforts you’re deeply involved with? We have just the session for you at SMX East next week. During The Coming “Entity Search” Revolution you’ll hear how the new Hummingbird algorithm helps resolve language-based ambiguities by creating a database of facts about specific, unique entities (people, places, businesses, events, etc). Our expert panel will also discuss the impact of entity search on SEO tactics, and what you need to prepare for as this trend accelerates.
The Coming “Entity Search” Revolution is part of the Semantic SEO Track at SMX East, Oct 1-3 in New York City. During this track you’ll learn about other new developments that are transforming the SEO landscape, such as Why Structured Data & Semantic SEO Are Important. You’ll learn about Authorship: Step-By-Step & Troubleshooting, and be treated to in-depth case studies from Structured Data Superstars who will show examples of how they’ve effectively used structured data to improve search visibility for articles, movies, products, local business information and more.
Looking forward to seeing you in New York!
