Consider these statistics:

As much as $500 billion in offline purchases was influenced by the internet in 2007 (eMarketer)

89% of consumers making in-store purchases in key categories have conducted research online (BIGResearch)

82% of people using local search sites followed up with an offline action, e.g. in-store visit, phone call (TMP Directional Marketing)

Local search isn’t just about "pizza and plumbers," but about the effect search marketing can have on driving conversions, SMX Local & Mobile co-chair Greg Sterling said in a recent webcast. "Consumers buy most of the stuff they buy in the real world. And most of those product purchases… are being influenced by the Internet," Sterling said.

Greg’s case for mastering local search and mobile marketing is compelling. Hear the entire presentation, "National Brands Marketing Local", produced by Search Marketing Now and sponsored by TMP Directional Marketing.

It is only a 5% discount, but if you’re going to SMX Local & Mobile why not fly JetBlue and keep the difference yourself? All you have to do is book online and use the JetBlue promo code. Details are here on the SMX Local & Mobile site.

JetBlue now flies to both SFO and Oakland, though there are many more flights into Oakland. If you’re planning to fly out in the evening, traffic can make both airports difficult to get to. Getting to the Oakland airport can take an hour or more from downtown San Francisco in the evening rush.

Despite their well-publicized melt downs over the last year, JetBlue is still my favorite domestic airline. Most of their people still have that spirit of customer service that most young businesses have. They should bottle that energy.

Speaking of discounts, don’t forget that the early bird discount for SMX Local & Mobile ends at the end of the day tomorrow (Friday, June 20). Register today!
