Atlas Web Service
I built my first webpage in 1997 and well it was horrible but I learned a thing or two on the way.
In 1998 the company I was working for said "you you’re in management, you understand sales, and you seem to know a little something about computers, so we’re going to put you in charge of our new website starting Monday". I took some classes learned some programming and a few weeks later I actually had an idea what I was doing. About this time we were paying $10,000 a month for someone to host our shopping cart for us, considering we had less than 1,000 visitors a month and were making less than $10,000 in gross revenue we had a problem. So I rewrote the shopping cart, set up an in-house linux box and we were in business. A few years later, several design revisions, and even more programming revisions and we were really in business. We were averaging between 30,000 and 50,000 unique visitors a day and had yearly revenues in excess of $25 million dollars and were the only part of the company that had sales that were growing.
In 2002 I had a technical problem and found my way to WebmasterWorld where came across this new emerging field of search engine optimization. After finally getting my head wrapped around it I began to experiment. We had a 30% increase in traffic and a 20% increase in sales in the first year.
In my personal life it was about this time we decided to do a major renovation to our house which not surprisingly went over budget. Looking for a way get some extra income I took a few design jobs and started dabbling in affiliate marketing. A few months later I realized I was missing out on tremendous opportunities, and began to make plans to go solo. In October of 2004 I left my employer and began to work exclusively for myself.
Currently my time is divided up between my own affiliate marketing projects and client work. If you’re looking for an SEO to take an active role in your marketing plans, do some consulting work and help you develop a SEO strategy, or evaluate your site and help you fix what’s wrong, see my SEO consulting page for more information. I’m also available to help your company or organization develop an effective blogging strategy, for more information see my corporate blog consulting page.
